Make Sure Your Busy Work Supports Your Life's Work

I realized the other day that my busy work/life's work was out of balance. I was allowing my busywork to take precedence over my life's work. How does this happen? Well it begins by being "too busy." We all have responsibilities we have to take care of. But one thing that sometimes happens is that you end up just working the work to fulfill your responsibilities and lose sight of why you're doing the work. Your busywork should fund and support you while you accomplish your life's work. Eventually, with a lot of hard work, your life's work should support you. If it doesn't then that means you are out of balance. It also means that you are probably feeling overwhelmed, unproductive, and exhausted. To help, you should try to get yourself back in balance. Begin with getting your time under control and scheduling your life's work first. Then schedule your busywork around your life's work. Then you also should reassess your goals and your situation. Can you scale back at all, so that you don't have to engage in more busywork? Also, are they ways you can try different busywork that will allow more time for your life's work? I have found that there are always things that can be done and that little adjustments can go a long way to making meaningful change in your life. So, remember, keep the main thing the main thing. Make sure that your life's work comes first before your busywork. Best of luck on your life's work.
